The process is not nearly as complex as most people think; it is usually not necessary to incur heavy legal fees. China has come far in the past few years in streamlining these types of bureaucratic processes and in making information and formalities intelligible to the foreign community. We also can recommend little-known but perfectly appropriate areas in which clients can register their businesses and receive substantial tax savings and other preferential treatment. (It should not be forgotten that provinces, cities, and districts are now competing for capital investment, and are thus responding to those market pressures.)
